ESOL IELTS (LEVEL 1+)
Entry Requirements
English Language competence at FCE/level 1 and above.
Description
The course is designed for international students who are planning to undertake (specialist) studies at an English-speaking university or college. It aims to develop the language and study skills required for successful participation in the social and academic life of a university or college.
Course Content
- Reading academic books and journals
- Listening to lectures
- Note-taking and research skills
- Writing academic essays
- Participating in seminars
- Study skills and learning strategies

plus IELTS examination practice.
Where a course is aimed towards an assessment/examination, it is expected that all students will enter for the qualification.
Method of Assessment
There is no external assessment but assignments and tasks will be set and students will follow an individual learning plan. Students may wish to take the IELTS test, at the nearest examining centre.
Progression
The course will help students to prepare for the IELTS test, or for university entry.
