The Distance Learning Diploma course in Essential Oil Therapy for Animals is designed to give every student a sound and practical understanding of this unique approach to natural animal healthcare. Our aim is to provide a high standard of education so that by the end of the course participants will leave equipped with the knowledge of 46 essential oils and their safe use with animal patients. We aim to train students to a high professional standard, thus enhancing the quality and credibility of this field of complementary therapy. Suitable for: Animal healthcare professionals and owners alike. Those of you who wish to enhance your knowledge and skills and care for your own animals. Those of you who wish to incorporate this Therapy into your profession, such as Vet Nurses and other animal healthcare professionals.

About this course

* Minimum age 18 years old. * Have experience of working with and/or owning animals. * Mature students with no previous qualifications are accepted. * A minimum of 3 GCSEs or equivalent (at Grade C and above including English, Science + 1 other). * Students can apply for Accredited Prior Learning (APL) (e.g. already have a qualification in Anatomy and Physiology such as Animal Care/Management, Vet Nursing, FD/ND). * Need to become a student member of GEOTA (The Guild of Essential Oil Therapists for Animals) which is the governing body.

Diploma Essential Oil Therapy For Animals

Course Structure:

These are the main elements for the Distance Learning course:

  1. Anatomy & Physiology.
  2. The study of 46 essential oils, their therapeutic effects and safety issues.
  3. Kinesiology and essential oil selection.
  4. Animal Health & Welfare.
  5. Essential Oil Chemistry.
  6. Health & Safety using Essential Oils.
  7. Veterinary Legislation.
  8. Client liaison and Consultations.
  9. Product Blending for topical treatments including shampoos, fly and flea sprays and various products for skin problems.

You will become equipped with the knowledge of the safe use of 46 essential oils commonly used with animals and be able to educate owners in their safe use on their own animals.

Course Notes and Support Materials

All course participants will receive full course notes on all sections of the course.

Supportive study material for the individual essential oils will be provided. A suggested reading list will be available for all topics covered in the course.
Some of the modules require you to buy or take out a library book to complete the modules, this is reflected in the price for each module.

An essential oil Starter Kit is also available to purchase from the office.

Entry Requirements:

A wide range of qualifications are normally acceptable for entry to the Diploma course in Essential Oil Therapy for Animals. While we live in a world where your paper qualifications are important, they are not the be-all and end-all for the purpose of admission to higher education. Please contact the office to discuss this further.

Each module must be taken in sequence commencing with HB00 and/or HB01. To obtain the Diploma all modules must be taken and 8 case studies submitted.

Core: Compulsory for Diploma Course

SA: Stand-alone modules and can be taken as a one-off course to enhance learning.
