European Computer Driving License - ECDL
Introduction
The London College of Management Studies is now
offering the European Computer Driving License - ECDL. This is a
tailor-made course that is designed to suit individual computer needs.
ECDL certificate is used within the European Community and it is a
recognised in over 140 countries around the world. The ECDL course is
flexible and is a skills qualification for everyone - your computing
skills will be instantly improved and recognisable to most employers.
Learning
Objectives
An individual pre-assessment will be carried out at the
beginning of the course to determine participants' specific needs. ECDL
has a mastery testing that shows the learner exactly what has been learnt
at every point.
Taking into account the different levels of entry, the
course will very flexible and person centred and participants would be
having hands-on and go at individual pace.
Modules to be covered
Specifically,
the course will cover the following area as approved by the ECDL
Foundation:
Module 1: Basic Concepts of IT Module 2: Using the Computer &
Managing Files Module 3: Word Processing Module 4: Spreadsheets Module
5: Databases Module 6: Presentations Module 7: Information and
Communication

Method of Delivery
Students will enjoy a high level of frequency of
practice through guided simulations throughout the course. At the end of
the each module, there will be testing that would show the student what
has been learnt so far and what needs further practice/work. Certificates
will be given on completion of every module. The test for each module will
be taken at the end but re-sits will be rescheduled. Candidates will take
an examination at the end of the course.
Course Duration
Students
can learn at their own pace so there will be no pressure of time. However
this tailor-made course can be covered over 60 hours of intensive study
spread over a period of 10 (ten) weeks and self-paced practice sessions.
The college offers both day and evening classes, and if necessary a
Saturday only class can also be scheduled.
Entry Requirements
There
are no specific entry requirements. Students may come from all works of
life.
Cost of the Course
A meagre fee of £250.00 (two hundred
and fifty pounds) only for the whole course will be required. This cost
can be spread out through the period if arranged with the administration
of the college. This payment includes registration and a set of two books
but does not however cover the cost of log books, examinations and any
re-sits. Candidates will be expected to cover these costs themselves. The
Log Book will cost £25.00 and the Examination Fee is £35.00.
