The course provides students with an extensive grounding in contemporary critical theory and the way it can be applied in a range of European cultural contexts. The course offers the opportunity to specialise in specific aspects of European culture that are close to areas of staff expertise, including history, film, literature and the visual arts. You will conduct an extensive research project of your choice under close guidance in a supportive and vibrant environment.

About this course
The course aims to enable understudies to: Students will acquire a greater awareness of the range of modes of critical analysis and critical theory.
Students will gain experience of textual examples of specific modes of critical analysis and critical theories.
Students will be able to analyse the relationship between individual modes of analysis and theories and the subject to which they are applied.
Students will be able to analyse the uses and validity of the areas of critical analysis and theory.
A 2(ii) Honours degree is required, or equivalent qualifications.
IELTS: overall score of 6.0 (with no element below 5.5) is required.
