European Politics
Course programme
The European Union and events in Europe have a huge impact on our daily lives. It is therefore vital that we have a good understanding of the EU in order to understand global political events. In the run up to the potential ‘Brexit’ vote, when UK voters will be given the opportunity to express their views in a referendum on EU membership, interest in European Politics will soar, and those with an in-depth knowledge of the EU will be at a huge advantage. We pride ourselves on the warm atmosphere and inclusive spirit of our programmes and learning environment. Our teaching has been awarded for its innovative character, and the student-centred nature of learning and assessment, while the research activities of our staff mean that we are at the forefront of our disciplines. Students gain direct experience of the political arena with our Making Politics Matter initiative, which has included debates on European migration, Britain’s role in the EU, the European context of international human rights and human trafficking, the politics of the environment, and the global financial crisis. Top reason to choose this course You will have the opportunity to be directly involved in the activities of our EU-funded Centre for European Studies, including organising and participating in events with top speakers from across Europe and visit European institutions in Brussels and Frankfurt.
