Course programme

The UK specialises in attracting visitors through its contemporary creative, heritage and service industries and events are at the heart of this business. A growing number of events globally, including festivals, conferences, sporting events and the 2012 Olympics, have created a demand for qualified events professionals. The campus is at the centre of this historic, exciting destination and the programme capitalises on the opportunity to link tourism and events in the context of the thriving local arts industry including a newly opened theatre and concert venue, art gallery and museum. In addition to the annual calendar of local conference, sports and cultural events, students have the opportunity to get involved with the month-long Canterbury Festival. Work experience and volunteering opportunities are offered by a variety of our partners, including Canterbury City Council, the Marlowe Theatre, on campus within our ‘Events Crew’ team and in the busy Conference and Music and Performing Arts Departments. With approximately 6.3 million visitors a year and an internationally famous cathedral, which has World Heritage status, Canterbury is the ideal place to take an Events Management degree.
