Course programme

As a school of management, not just a business school, we believe passionately that theory is nothing without practice and ideas cannot come alive without action. We know that your success as a manager and business leader depends not just on what you know, but also on how you apply what you know, and we are committed to helping you succeed.

Modular
Classes take place at Cranfield over six eight-day residential blocks each year.
The Cranfield MBA is not just a collection of different modules; it is a carefully integrated cycle of learning, taking you through different phases from laying foundations to application and integration.
Personal and professional development is at the heart of the Cranfield MBA and is a module that runs throughout your programme, helping you develop the people skills that are necessary when working at a senior level of management.
Our dedicated career development team will work closely with you throughout your programme to help you realise your career aspirations. Many of the career-related activities are integrated into the taught modules.

An integrated cycle of learning
  • Part one - Building competence
    • Laying foundations
    • Core modules
    • Language requirement
      Full-time MBA only
  • Part two - Application and integration
    • Elective themed modules
    • International Business Experience
    • Capstone event
  • Throughout the programme
    • Organisational Behaviour and Personal and Professional Development
You will be assessed through a mixture of exams, written projects and presentations, with most modules being assessed through two pieces of work. Part one and two of the programme are assessed independently and you must pass both parts to qualify for the MBA degree.

In part one, the individual assessment generally takes the form of an examination and these are timetabled at the end of each term. The majority of the elective themes in part two are assessed by group and individual projects.

Written projects come in a variety of forms: individual essays, group reports and 'Written Analysis of a Case' (WAC) assignments. A WAC is a business report based on a case study which requires an integrated, rather than a functional solution. The WACs are set under strict conditions of time and length and are designed to teach you the skill of business report writing under time pressure. During part one you will do four WACs, two in each term.
