Maths is an important skill you use every day. Maths helps with your finances, time telling, and problem-solving. Good maths skills improve your life at home and at work as it helps you make better decisions. If maths is holding you back, our Level 1 Functional Skills Maths is a great place to learn the basics. We’ll teach you real-world, transferable maths skills that let you think on your feet and succeed in life.
Why choose Functional Skills Maths Level 1?
Functional skills focus on giving you actual skills you can use in everyday life. It uses scenarios and questions that mirror tasks you might do in real life. For example, you may read, write and order numbers, or work out the nearest whole number for accuracy. These skills can easily be applied to real situations, such as reading numbers on a gas meter or working out 10% of your bill to tip at a restaurant.
Whereas GCSE focus on the academic side, Functional Skills gives you immediate skills all employers want. It prepares you for life after study, and is fantastic for the brain, too! Why? Because it tackles those grey areas while boosting your ability to make decisions, think logically, and calculate faster.
When you enrol with us, we’ll lead you through three stages of maths: Representation, Analysis, Interpretation. These three areas have been specifically designed to help you understand practical problems in many contexts. You’ll know how to tackle problems and find solutions. Better yet, you’ll know how to explain how you got there.
