Who is this course for?
A course to explore all aspects of sculpture production and to cover technical, practical as well as contextual issues.

No previous knowledge required

What is the level of the course?
This course can accommodate all levels.

What will the course cover and what can I expect to do by the end of it?
Learning outcomes include that you will be able to:
  • You will gain competence with tools and machinery (optional)
  • You will gain competence with materials and processes
  • You will complete several sculpture projects
  • Develop your own creative style
What teaching and learning methods will be used on the course?
The course will be taught by technical demonstration, project brief and one-to-one teaching.

How will we assess your progress on the course?
Students assessment runs complimentary to ongoing one-to-one development aims through ILP's.

What type of qualification will passing this course give me?
A WMC Certificate

What extra study/practice do we expect you to do outside the class?
You are expected to do reading and appropriate research into artists and movements. You are also expected to source some materials outside of the class. Learners are encouraged to use the College Learning Centre and to use the internet. Relevant books will be recommended by the tutor throughout the course.

What can I do after completing this course?
You could join our Access to HE Art and Design course or our Professional Practice in Art and Design Foundation degree.

Are there any other costs? (e.g. materials, equipment or books I need to buy before or during the course)
Basic tools will be offered, but you may wish to buy additional tools for your personal use. List of tools will be provided, there is a charge of £16 per student per term and a £1,50 per pound for clay before firing. This covers cost of clay, glazing and firing.
