Overview
Many groups need to problem-solve, debate an issue, review a situation, or clear the air together, but lack direction or sufficient impartiality to manage the discussion. At these moments they may need a facilitator.
The good facilitator enables a group not dominates it, allowing them to feel they have achieved something together. He or she earns the confidence of the participants, who will trust him or her to lead them appropriately to a beneficial outcome for all. This workshop covers the role and skills of the organisational or group facilitator.
What you will learn:
At the end of the session participants will:
  • Understand the role of the facilitator
  • Know how to work with a group to achieve a specific outcome.
  • Know how to use the five key skills: building & maintaining rapport; active listening & observing; masterly questioning; managing the activity; managing information
  • Know how to help participants in a group to contribute to the required outcome.
  • Have learned techniques to assimilate difficult participants into the group's activities with discretion and assertion.
