Is this course for me?
This course is for students who have some fashion experience or
have completed a BTEC Introductory Diploma in Art & Design
first.
What will I study?
This course is for people who have some fashion experience or
have completed a BTEC Introductory Diploma in Art and Design. You
will learn how to research and explore your ideas and use your
designs as inspiration for your fashion and textiles work. You will
work in well equipped fashion workshops and studios and develop
your creative and practical skills. You will have the opportunity
to show your work at the exciting annual end of year Fashion Show.
Visits to exhibitions, galleries and museums are a regular feature
of the course and you are encouraged to produce a portfolio which
will help with your progression.
What can I do next?
This can lead to progression onto the next programme of study, a
BTEC National Diploma in Fashion and Clothing. Lewisham
College has an excellent reputation in courses at this level and
our students have progressed to Higher Education, HNC/HND or
degree.
During your course you could have additional costs that are not
included in the fees. You may wish to buy textbooks, Winifred
Aldrich Pattern cutting and a Pattern Master, and various pieces of
cutting and sewing equipment to enhance your studies. If you are
worried about costs, please do not be put off as there may be help
available to you.

What are the entry requirements?

You will need to attend an interview and complete an aptitude
test.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is in various ways, including assignments, class
work, group work, phase tests, oral presentations, projects and
formal examinations. It will be through meeting the objectives of
the set assignments and achieving the deadlines. You will also have
regular meetings with your personal tutor to discuss your progress
and to help plan your studies. Additional support, help and
guidance is also available from the Guidance Team or from our Study
Buddies.
What will it cost?
If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances,
you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out
when you apply.
