The course offers you an opportunity to study a wide range of skills essential for the design and production of both fashion and textiles, whilst developing a real understanding of professional working practices and expectations of the fashion industry. You will develop these skills through a variety of lectures, workshops and live projects. You will work in sketchbooks using the design cycle to develop ideas to a professional standard. You will explore mark making techniques, textile exploration and illustration techniques to communicate your final ideas . You will work with fashion retailers in the West Midlands to understand the challenges of the industry today and gain valuable hands on experience with real customers.

Course programme
Entry Requirements
You will need a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C or above including English and mathematics or a level 2 Diploma with Merit grade in Art and Design, plus a portfolio of art work.
Delivery and Assessment
Assessment is carried out throughout the programme and is coursework-based. On-going feedback in each lesson is complemented with written assessment for each subject of each project brief - so you can track the progress you are making.
Progression
You will be able to progress to the Foundation Diploma in Art & Design, the HND in Fashion or other Level 4 programmes. On successful completion of the Diploma you will gain sufficient UCAS points to also apply for degree courses in Fashion. You will also be supported to gain entry into industry employment through apprenticeships or junior positions in Design and Production companies.
