About the FdA Tourism Management programme
The fast-growing tourism industry is eager to employ qualified individuals that can demonstrate a capacity for management. This programme has been developed through consultation with local and national employers and has been specifically designed with the needs of North East Lincolnshire and national tourism industry in mind.

As a result, there is a strong emphasis on those particular skills that are in high demand in today's marketplace.

The programme focuses on developing practical skills that will enable students to achieve both career and personal goals, in particular the opportunity to progress to the BA Tourism and Business Management Top Up degree at Grimsby Institute. All students undertake a work placement and strong links exist with companies in the USA, as well as many local positions.

Entry requirements For 2017 entry onwards: applicants require 96 UCAS points at A' Level or equivalent or an Access to HE Diploma. Additionally applicants will be expected to have a minimum grade C in GCSE English, Maths or equivalent. In line with the widening participation brief, the Institute encourages applications from those who lack formal academic qualifications. All such applicants will be set an appropriate piece of work and a judgement made taking into account their academic potential and relevant experience. Airlines Tour operators Hospitality industry Programme Benefits Upon successful completion of this degree, graduates will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to pursue a new career, or advance an existing one within the Tourism industry. Some graduates will progress on to a final year of study in order to complete a BA Degree in this discipline. Graduates will be able to pursue a wide range of roles within the tourism sector such as customer service roles within tourism, marketing for tourism, sales, product development for tourism/tourist attractions, IT and administration. All of these roles can be either deployed nationally or internationally. Graduates will also be able to seek senior positions within the generic tourism industry within hotels, holiday resorts and cruise ships. Learning & Teaching Methods Methods of learning and teaching are designed to support students in becoming active members of a learning community. Students will be expected to work together in an informal environment as well as in formal classes where a culture of dignity, courtesy and mutual respect with staff and their peers is essential. A variety of methods will be used such as lectures, seminars and workshops together with student-led presentations and self-directed learning tasks. Integrating a work-based or placement opportunity, students will be visited in the workplace by a member of Institute staff to ensure a positive partnership between the employer mentor and to monitor that learning in the workplace is effective. Workplace learning is designed to support the development of an employable graduate equipped with the attributes, skills and knowledge to progress within a global market.
