Entry requirements For 2017 entry onwards: in all instances applicants will be interviewed. They will also require 80 points from two A Levels or equivalent level 3 qualification or an Access to HE Diploma. All applicants must also have GCSE Maths and English grade C or above (or level 2 equivalent). The Institute encourages applications from those who lack formal qualifications - all such applicants will be set a piece of work and judgement made taking account of academic ability and relevant experience. What you will learn Year 1 Year 2 Level 4 Health, Illness and Society Health and Social Policy Research and Study Skills Essential and Clinical Skills Principles of inclusive Practice Practice Learning 1 766 hours of placement must be completed over the length of the programme. Placement within the NHS takes place throughout the year. What Next Nurse training - Paramedic training - Careers within the Primary Care Trust and hospital settings. Programme Benefits Upon successful completion of this degree, graduates will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to pursue a new career, or advance an existing one in as an assistant practitioner within the health and social care sector. They may also consider progressing onto further study within specialist areas such as adult nursing, physiotherapy, public health and occupational therapy. Learning & Teaching Methods Methods of learning and teaching are designed to support students in becoming active members of a learning community. Students will be expected to work together in an informal environment as well as in formal classes where a culture of dignity, courtesy and mutual respect with staff and their peers is essential. A variety of methods will be used including interactive lectures, student led discussions and work based learning experience. Students will be visited in the workplace by an Institute staff member to ensure a positive partnership with the employer and to monitor that learning in the workplace is effective. Workplace learning is designed to support the development of an employable graduate equipped with the attributes, skills and knowledge to progress within a global market.
