FE Direct is a full time, one year Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Programme that has been developed to recruit and train graduates as specialist teachers for post-16 providers in order to address the national skills shortage.
The UK still has large numbers of young people leaving school and in the population generally who do not have the equivalent of a Level 2 qualification in Mathematics. As a result, there is a growing need for Mathematics classes for people of all ages. The year-long Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, including specialist pathway in teaching mathematics, is aimed at graduates with relevant degrees who wish to teach Mathematics in the post-16 sector, but are not currently in employment in Education. As part of the course, trainees will undertake a placement of a minimum of 150 hours at Leeds City College or one of our partner organisations.
