Techniques/Short Film Production

Year 2 – Documentary Film Production/Corporate and Promotional Film Production/Short Film Production/Advertisement Production/Final Major Project/Motion Graphics and Video Compositing

What qualifications will I get?

BTEC Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production (TV & Film)

How will I be assessed?

All non A Level qualifications including BTECs will now have some part of the course assessed externally (up to a maximum of 40% of the units). This still means that the majority of a BTEC course is assessed as normal as a student progresses through the two years by the teachers at the College through the coursework but there will be some units that have external assessments. The external assessments can take many forms: some might be practical projects such as responding to a particular brief or working on a project in controlled conditions, as well as traditional written or online examinations. Examples of all of the different types of assessment will be created in time to allow all students to practice and prepare for the real thing.

What are the entry requirements?

Minimum qualifications: Full level 2

GCSE - The course requires a minimum of four GCSE passes at grade C or above. English and Maths are required, however if you do not have these at GCSE a place may be offered and you will be required to study functional skills in both these subjects, alongside the main programme.

BTEC – The course also accepts students who successfully completed a BTEC Level 2 First Diploma with a Merit grade in a related subject area. If you do not have a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths you will also be required to study these alongside the main course programme.

Mature candidates will also be considered.

English and Maths

English and maths qualifications are vitally important for future employers and universities, so the government has made it a priority for students to improve these skills.

Entry Level / Level 1 and Level 2: We’re here to help you on your journey, so if you do not achieve grade A*-C in GCSE English and/or maths, then you will study English and/or maths as part of your college course.

Students who achieve a D grade will be placed on the relevant GCSE programme, while students who achieve an E or below will be assessed to ensure they are placed on the right study programme for their ability.

Level 3 programmes: You will need to meet the course entry requirements specified on the course information above. For the majority of our Level 3 courses, students will need grade A*-C in GCSE English and/or maths. If this is not specified in the course entry requirement, then you may be able to study English and/or maths as part of your college course.
