Students will have the opportunity to produce, direct and edit a range of adverts, promotional and entertainment videos, dramas and documentaries, which are taught in conjunction with industry professionals. Students will receive technical and production advice and guidance from industry professionals in all aspects of film production skills and sensibilities.

About this course

For 2010 entry: 220 UCAS points from 3 A levels or equivalent
For 2011 entry: 240 UCAS points from 3 A levels or equivalent
Level 3 advanced diploma in Creative & Media considered when combined with other qualifiations.
In addition, we also welcome applicants with relevant industrial experience
Preferred subjects: Media Studies, Film Studies, English Language and Film Production.
Recommended GCSEs: A minimum requirement of 5 GCSE's A* - C including Maths and English or equivalent qualifications
If English is not your first language: IELTS 6.5 (Academic) or above.

Course Overview

This new course will be delivered at Wiltshire College Salisbury, a BU Partner College.

Based on over 50-years experience in educating film makers, this course is highly aligned to the professions and offers a well considered blend of practical assignments and academic study. The course builds the multi-skilling theme of the Salisbury ethos, offering a combination of projects that involve you either directing small team productions or taking a variety of leading roles in larger scale films and productions.

  • You will have the opportunity to produce, direct and edit a range of adverts, promotional and entertainment videos, dramas and documentaries, which are taught in conjunction with industry professionals.
  • You will receive technical and production advice and guidance from industry professionals in all aspects of film production skills and sensibilities
  • You will have access to broadcast digital video cameras, non-linear edit suites, film cameras including Arriflex and Bolex, Steenbeck film editing tables, a multi-camera broadcast TV studio, radio studio, film dubbing facilities, location lighting, dollies and tracking.

The course is run in partnership with the Media School and sits within the School's Undergraduate Media Production Framework. The Media School is one of the UK's largest and most respected providers of academic media courses.
