Film Studies - GCSE

What are the main features of this course?

You will be introduced to a number of ways of approaching films and how they create meaning though close analysis of different film texts. You will develop your own imaginary film and complete a number of practical tasks including the production of posters, websites, storyboards and short filmed extracts. There will be case studies of different film genres and non-western cinema in preparation for the exam.

Hours of Lessons per Week : 3.7 Indicative Group Size : 22

How is the course assessed?

You must complete a number of practical tasks based on a film you have created yourself; this, along with written reflection, will form the basis of your coursework portfolio (50%). There are two examinations which will test your knowledge of different film language, different genres and your ability to respond to creative tasks.
