Course programme
The Film and Television specialisation in the Bachelor of Fine Arts gives you the skills to create screen programs to a high artistic and technical standard.
Throughout the degree you will attend lectures, workshops and master-classes to develop your creative, technical and analytical skills. You will write, direct and edit your own work and also crew on fellow student productions. A large component of the degree is focused on practical screen production, with an emphasis on screenwriting, direction and editing. You will be encouraged to be innovative and experimental, to explore ideas and develop the expertise to express ideas for an audience.
The VCA’s School of Film and Television is Australia’s premier film school. Our
students and graduates alike continue to win numerous industry awards on the national and international stages, including festivals such as Berlin International, Palm Springs, Sundance, Tokyo, London, at Cannes and at the
Academy Awards.
You will learn in a modern purpose-built building which houses sound stages, animation studios, rushes viewing rooms, editing and sound mixing suites along with 90-seat and 220-seat cinemas. Equipment available includes 16mm and digital cinema cameras, location sound kits with digital audio recorders, and comprehensive high definition digital vision and audio postproduction facilities.
Selection into this specialisation is talent-based and includes a test and interview.
