The BA (Hons) Film, TV & Digital Media Production with Integrated Foundation includes a year of studies at foundation level and is designed to prepare you for direct entry on to the BA (Hons) Film, TV & Digital Media Production degree programme. The modern media landscape is changing faster than any other industry, as it adapts to new methods of communication, new markets and new technology. This practical programme, created and taught by media professionals, provides hands-on training and will enable you to respond to changes in the modern broadcast landscape. You will learn about ‘360-degree broadcasting’, using the large number of platforms through which we now broadcast, watch and interact with media. You will use the internet creatively to produce material and communicate ideas, as well as learning the traditional skills of directing, producing, sound, lighting, camera, editing and production management. In addition, you will undertake a degree work placement in the creative industries that will provide you with invaluable first-hand experience and the opportunity to build your own network of industry contacts. About this course
Study methods Theory and practical tuition go hand-in-hand, enabling you to understand the history and development of television, film and digital media broadcast as well as honing your ability to identify emerging trends. You will learn through lectures, seminars, workshops and tutorials, and will have the opportunity to specialise in preferred media areas through case studies. You will work on practical projects, both individually and in groups, replicating industry practice. Assessment structure Assessment methods include script analyses, screenplays, reflective blogs, presentations, essays, case studies and examinations. Group assessments constitute 50% of your overall degree and include short films, pitches and presentations, and written pitch documents.
