Frequently Asked Questions Are there any extra costs involved? Yes. As students will be visiting employers and working in a business environment they will require appropriate business attire. There may be several trips to employers and to London which students are expected to attend and fund. We also hope to take the students on a business focussed overseas trip, but this is not mandatory.
What type of student might the Finance Academy be suitable for? One of the main aims of the Academy programme is to provide students with an opportunity to experience the real world of work by putting classroom theory into practice whilst opening their eyes to the numerous career opportunities within a market sector. Feedback from our employers partners tells us that in addition to strong academic ability the personal characteristics that they are looking for in their future work-force include drive, enthusiasm and initiative. Strong communication and interpersonal skills combined with an ability to meet deadlines are key to a successful career in business. This course also incorporates a substantial amount of content that require excellent numerical skills, eg Accounting and Economics. For this reason, we do not recommend it for students who have lower than a GCSE grade C in Maths.
