Overview
This in-depth two day programme focuses on how to understand financial and management accounts and how to apply analytical techniques to interpret balance sheets, profit and loss accounts and management accounts in order to properly appraise financial information.

Participants learn how to

· Explain the principles of, and differences between financial accounts and management accounts

· Prepare and understand a profit and loss account and balance sheet, and consider their significance within their own organisations

· Understand effective ratio analysis

· Produce a cashflow forecast and understand its significance

· Understand variable and fixed costs

· Understand budgetary procedures with particular attention given to understanding people’s motivation to action and achieving ‘win/win’ outcomes

· Enable discussion of practical accounting problems
