On SFB Training Services

Provider description
SFB Training Services Limited was set up in 1995 by Sonya Barnes, the Managing Director after 20 years in the Licensed Trade. The knowledge she had acquired with regard to food safety, health and safety, first aid and basic skills, was then put to good use, initially by teaching adults with special needs and/or learning difficulties in various Adult Education Colleges and then setting up a training café for young adults with learning disabilities and special needs in Brentwood.

A lack of funding resulted in only being able to sustain the café for a few years as Sonya was taking on teaching assignments in order to keep the café going. In the year 2000 the present site became available and was in an ideal situation to launch SFB Training Services Limited as a full time training facility. Close to the M25, A12 and A127 it is in a quiet, mainly residential area with off-street parking and with easy access to the train station and bus service.

Sonya has continued to undertake courses herself in order to offer the wide range now on offer and has built an excellent reputation for offering first class training. "Candidates come back time and time again to extend their knowledge, not just for their work, but because they enjoy the training experience and the relationship they have built up with us".

Most of the full time staff have been trained by the company and specialise in their own fields, Julie Sarson was a full time carer and handles many of the care courses, as well as health and safety and food hygiene training. Martin Judd through his experience and training has achieved considerable success and accolades as a first aid trainer. Keeping it in the family, Damien Judd is the office manager with responsibility for administration and accounts.

The company employs specialists in many fields, David Brown, conflict management, door supervisors and more recently physical intervention. David is one of the most highly qualified Martial Arts trainers in the world - this together with his experience in the field of door supervision, close protection and training the police, MI5 and staff in other Government departments and security gives him the personal experience as well as the theory.

Other consultants and trainers are all specialists in their own field and the company works in partnership with other similar businesses in order that all can benefit from offering first class, quality training to its clients.
