Description of the Course
The course enables you to develop your practical skills in music technology. Your main focus is music, music recording and production, with written work closely supporting your practical study.
Course content
The main elements of the course are:

· Planning and Creating a Music Product
· Exploring the Music Profession
· Producing a Musical Recording
· Understanding Music
· Exploring Computer Systems Used by Musicians
· Exploring an Area of Music

Assessment
Most of the course is continuously assessed. For coursework, students must research, produce written reports and evaluations and show evidence of planning and organisation. Students will undertake a literacy and/or numeracy programme depending on prior attainment in these areas.
Who is the course for?
This course is aimed at those who wish to gain a grounding in music recording and creation, who would wish to eventually work in one of these industries.
Entry requirements
An average of Grade D for 3 or more GCSEs, including English Language, or you will have successfully completed a Level 1 vocational programme, and L1 Communications Key Skill. You may also be asked to demonstrate your commitment and musical skills in an interview.
What can I do after this course?
Successful completion of this Level 2 course will give you access Level 3 courses such as the National Diploma in Media (Audio and Music Technology pathway)
