Why study BTEC First Diploma in Health & Social Care?
The BTEC First Diploma is intended to provide you with an introduction to the Health & Social Care sectors. In particular it will help you develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required of those who work in the Health & Social Care occupations such as their job responsibilities and their relationship with patients or service users. You will be encouraged to visit the Health & Social Care setting (hospital, homes for the elderly, etc) and learn first hand about how such services work.

What do I study?
There are two compulsory units which cover:
- Communication and individual rights within the Health & Social Care sectors
- Individual needs within the Health & Social Care setting

In addition there are four optional units covering:
- Human Lifespan development
- Anatomy and Physiology for Health & Social Care
- Health & Social Care Services
- Creative and Therapeutic Activities in Health & Social Care

Where does the BTEC First Diploma in Health & Social Care take me?
The BTEC First Diploma in Health & Social Care provides a nationally recognised vocational qualification to enter employment as a health or care worker or to progress to a higher level vocational qualification such as the BTEC National Diploma in Health & Social Care.
