Ian Price
Director/ Principal Trainer
Ian holds National training qualifications, degrees, management qualifications and vocational certificates. Perhaps more relevant is that he speaks in competition – walking the walk so to speak. In 2004 Ian won the UK National Championship for Impromptu speaking, in 2005 the Southern Area Final for Prepared Speaking and in 2009 was the runner up at Nationals for Evaluation. One of the advantages this brings is the ability to instantly show a client a different, or better, way to deliver a difficult point.
Course programme
The First Steps presentation course is a one day course that is designed for people who have little or no presentation skill experience. Quite often people on this course are very nervous of standing up and speaking in public and may have avoided doing so. Candidates are asked to bring with them an idea for a 5 minute presentation, and throughout the day we will work on two main areas. The first is getting ready to present, dealing with nerves and feeling more confident. The second is how to structure and build a presentation in a logical order. As the day progresses candidates will take their original idea and build that into a presentation to deliver to the group during the latter part of the afternoon. The course tutor ensures that everyone is comfortable and feeling ‘safe’ to practice and deliver their material. Feedback is given to each individual to hep them understand what aspects went well, and what aspects need further development.
