The Contents of this course is divided into 12 Sessions are as follows- Session 1: Settings and the senses -Why creating a convincing sense of place matters in crime fiction. Session materials include a tutor video, selected readings, practical writing exercises and a book club forum. Session 2: Creating a detective and tension -How writers create compelling characters. Session materials include a tutor podcast, selected readings, practical assignments and writing exercises. Session 3: All about research -Why research is so important for the crime-fiction writer. Session materials include a video on crime research, selected readings, practical assignments and writing exercises. Session 4: Write your own crime story -Try a longer piece of writing (up to 2,000 words) using all the techniques you have learned during the course. Option to critique your fellow writers.
