Description

To identify factors that affect physical performance in golf through effective assessment and history taking. To be able to analyse a golf swing through observation and use of audio visual technology. To promote clinical reasoning and problem solving in golf conditioning, reconditioning and rehabilitation. Apply knowledge of kinesiology and biomechanics to physical analysis of golf swing. To prescribe exercises, drills, ergonomics and life style changes to meet demands of high performance golfers. To be able to interact with the golfer through sound knowledge of the golf swing.

Half day workshop

Audience:

  • PGA coaches and assistants/apprentices
  • Physiotherapists and physical therapists
  • Fitness instructors

Aims:

  • To identify factors that affect physical performance in golf through effective assessment and history taking
  • To be able to analyse a golf swing through observation and use of audio visual technology
  • To promote clinical reasoning and problem solving in golf conditioning, reconditioning and rehabilitation
  • Apply knowledge of kinesiology and biomechanics to physical analysis of golf swing
  • To prescribe exercises, drills, ergonomics and life style changes to meet demands of high performance golfers
  • To be able to interact with the golfer through sound knowledge of the golf swing
  • The aims of the sessions can be adapted to suit the audience and their particular needs and level of knowledge concerning the golf swing

Additional aims may include:

  • Use of manual therapy techniques in golf
  • Promoting the golfer to use a personal portfolio
  • Setting up in practice
  • Importance of diet, hydration, periodisation, mental preparation and correct warm up etc
  • Researching golf and the field of golf science
  • Anatomy and physiology relating to golf conditioning and performance

Structure of programs:

  • Part theory and part practical
  • Emphasis is generally on the practical components
