Course programme
Flush setting is a modern, minimal style of setting, in which stones are held level with the surface of the metal. The 'flush' surfaces make this a very wearable style of stone setting, often used to add colour as a contrast to the metal.
Topics covered
After completing a base metal test piece, you will set several small faceted stones into a silver ring or pendant which will be made during class.
The technique involves drilling and burring a recess for the stones to sit in, before pushing the metal around the stone to hold it in place permanently.
Entry requirements: This course is suitable for students who have some experience of jewellery making.
