You will continue to develop basic guitar technique and increase your awareness of the instrument and it's potential. You will learn to play from guitar notation and chord symbols, improve your fretboard technique, strumming and picking patterns.We will learn songs by negotiating chord changes, and playing together in time.

About this course
- Play basic chord shapes and read chord symbols
- Demonstrate finger-picking and strumming patterns
- Understand bar chords and rudimentary scales
- Demonstrate essential accompaniment techniques
- Find the chords to simple songs and build new chord progressions.
All music materials will be provided by the tutor. You must bring your own acoustic guitar and a folder for the music sheets.

Course programme
This course introduces the instrument and how to play folk and pop songs. Each week a particular area of guitar technique will be explored through specifically chosen songs and exercises.
During the course, emphasis will be on playing and listening together with some work in pairs or small groups. You will mainly be taught through large group work, following your tutor's demonstration, with the opportunity for some individual attention. Practice between classes is essential to your progress.Additional information
