This is a one year course which is designed at a basic level of food preparation and cooking. You will need to make sure that a relevant uniform is used for the training area, but this will be discussed in your interview. You will be required to attend the College on a part-time basis for one day a week 9.00 am until 5.00 pm for one year.

Course Content
The course is unit based and designed at basic level. You will prepare and cook various items/products using pre-prepared, convenience and fresh products.
Health and Safety and Hygiene are a major concern and therefore these units are covered by individual units.
The food prepared and assembled will be used in food production through training restaurant.
How will I be assessed?
The course is unit based with underpinning knowledge input to meet students requirements and understanding practical. Assessments take place during the 36 weeks and written testing to ascertain students understanding. These are placed into a portfolio of evidence demonstrating students ability and competence in each unit.
