Course programme

Course overview

This course should not be confused with the large number of MSc programmes designed as conversion courses for the new and inexperienced graduate student.

Due to the commitments and workloads of practising professionals, all course content is delivered by distance learning methods. Course material will be provided via Internet, CD, video or textbook. You are also required to attend, if possible, one 2-day study weekend per semester, held in Cambridge.

Core modules

  • Crime Scene Management and Investigation
  • Physical and Chemical Criminalistics
  • Drug Profiling
  • Toxicology and Biological Criminalistics
  • Research Methods
  • Masters Research Project

Assessment

Assessment is primarily by the submission of reports, essays and reviews, and by tests delivered at the study weekends (alternative arrangements are made for those who cannot attend these). Students are required to give a presentation as part of the assessment of their research project. This is normally done during their final study weekend.

Dedication

3 years, part-time.
