Foundation Construction Award (FCA) Carpentry
How will I learn and be assessed?
You will gain the knowledge and understanding you need to select and make good use of tools and materials. You will learn how to use your new skills safely, working with different materials and in different environments. You will be prepared for site or bench work. This means that you may be working with large construction projects or with smaller indoor projects. Learners have plenty of opportunities to put their new knowledge to practical use. Practical skills will be developed through course tasks and project work. Most of your coursework will be assessed through practical activities.Foundation Construction Award (FCA)   For the FCA Construction Award you will be required to pass a total of six units and a job knowledge test which is completed on the computer at the centre

Unit 200 - Contribute to Providing Working Platforms
Unit 201 - Preparation and Use of Portable Power Tools
Unit 202 - Maintenance and Use of Woodworking Hand Tools
Unit 203 - Use Basic Wood Jointing Techniques
How often do I need to attend?
The length of the course and the pattern of attendance will be agreed with your tutor. Most students spend 9, 15 or 30 hours each week on theirtraining programme.
