Entry Requirements
Three GCSEs at grade G or above including
English and Maths.
Description
This course allows students
who wish to pursue a career in Automotive Technologies. but whose skills
need further development. Students will have an opportunity to work at a
pace suitable to their level of ability. English and Maths development
will be an essential part of the programme.
Course Content
Entry
Level Certificate in Motor Vehicles
Personal skills including:
Reading,
Writing, Speaking and Listening
Maths skills for everyday life
ICT
Inter-personal
skills, team building and mutual respect
Researching careers in the
automotive technology industry
Exploring the local environment
Attendance
of at least 85% is necessary in order to complete the course.
It is
expected that all students will enter for the qualification.

Key Skills
All students will participate in
timetabled sessions designed to enhance skills in Literacy and Numeracy.
Students will receive separate certificates on successful completion of
the programme.
Other Studies (enhancement)
Students may also
choose to study for a GCSE to increase their qualifications, or to resit a
previous GCSE subject to improve a grade. To enhance employment
opportunities the course may also have additional qualifications built
into the programme.
Other Activities
Students may be required
to participate in a work experience programme as an integral part of the
course, where this is appropriate.

Fees
Tuition and
registration fees are free for students aged 16-18 as at 31 August 2009
for the course period. Students aged 19+ as at 31 August 2009 will be
required to pay the fees below. You are required to pay a tuition fee for
each year of study. All fees are due at the time of your enrolment. Costs
may vary for international students, please ask for details.
Equipment
Charge
Students will be required to purchase PPE (boots, overalls
and safety glasses) and a starter tool kit which are essential for this
course and these can be purchased directly from an approved college
supplier. Order forms will be provided during the enrolment period. The
approximate cost is £100.

Students will
be required to purchase general stationery items.
