Foundation Syllabus
Foundation Term One

Four Weekend Modules, from April to July
Plus Home Assignments

In this 1st term we explore through fun, creative and enlightening experiences what it really is to be a thinking, feeling, relating and communicating human being. We break down the component pieces of the
processes of cognition and perception to develop a recognition and mastery of how we construct our experience of the world. This will take you on a journey through the reawakening of your physical senses to develop exquisite observational skills that can enhance rapport and communicational flexibility.

  • Gain an understanding of the different levels of experience that places subjective values as the driving force behind all behaviour.
  • Amaze yourself with the power and subtlety of the spoken word with which you are already so familiar, yet which can be reclaimed as a tool for both expression and transformation.
  • Delight in the gentle induction of Relaxed States of Awareness, our natural healing state.
  • Demystify the greater communication between ‘conscious' and ‘unconscious' and decode the mental/emotional relationship we have with time.
  • Learn what it is to get back in the driving seat of your subjective experiences.
  • and to be able to generate desired emotional states and new more effective behaviours.
  • Release the empowerment of creating and working towards well-formed, meaningful and realistic outcomes.
  • Develop an understanding of your own learning processes and enjoy a celebration of your creative resources.

Foundation Term Two
Three Weekend Modules, from September to
November
Plus Home Assignments

The 2nd term takes the abilities and basic patterns that you have explored so far and deepens and expands your applications towards more specific therapeutic intervention.

  • Further hone your methods of modelling the process of problem and the process of solution as unique to your client and to yourself.
  • Utilise natural cognitive processes such as Stimulus-Response and Association (‘Anchoring') and the TOTE model (‘Strategies') that will lend appropriate ecology to Classic NLP Patterns that were modelled from successful psychotherapeutic and naturalistic healing patterns.
  • Further explore the dynamic and self-balancing concepts of the work of Perls, Satir and Erickson.
  • Support your growing knowledge and sensitivity as you add more Hypno-Psychotherapeutic skills and knowledge to the work you have achieved in term one.
  • Understand and experience the psychic structures of releasing past pain and resolving the past.
  • Begin to facilitate integration of ‘parts' and selfregeneration.

As this term concludes, you will realise that you are developing in-the-muscle reflexive skills to facilitate yourself and others to reclaim the past/future/ present of life and all its personal lessons and fruits.

Foundation Term Three
Three Weekend Modules, from January to March
Plus Home Assignments concluding with presentation of your Learning Portfolio & final practical assessment

  • A period of consolidation and integration, developing further your unique authenticity in the use of this material.
  • Practice of more advanced applications of Ericksonian Hypno-Psychotherapy will expand your ability to work with people, rather than ‘on them', and to dispel misguided notions of practitioner authority.
  • Employ Models of client assessment and information gathering that you have learned in terms one and two to develop appropriately ecological treatment plans.
  • Interweave these into flexible practice protocols, supporting responsible facilitation in limited professional practice.
  • Integrate your learning into your current field of people facilitation.
  • Present your unique Learning Portfolio

Assessment on the Foundation Course

The assessment procedures are designed to provide you with the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge, understanding and skills, recognise areas of strength and achievement and receive feedback in
areas where you can achieve improvement. As well as attendance on the training modules you will be asked to complete fun and reflective home assignments, such as watching videos, completion of personal projects
and technical revision and practice, to guarantee the very best learning opportunity. All of this helps to form part of the ongoing assessment procedure. Your tutors may also suggest helpful tasks for you individually,
to support you in fully capitalising on your talents and goals.

During the final weekend you will be more formally assessed including by an External Assessor in your application of all that you have learnt over the course, through specific practical tasks. There is no written exam, but samples of writing from your home assignments will be included in your learning portfolio.

This will be assessed by your peers, the Trainers and at least one External Assessor. Aspects of your achievements that will be assessed are practical application, content knowledge, critical analysis, creativity and synthesis.

To be eligible for Assessment and Certification attendance is essential for a minimum of 18 of the 20 days and attendance of the final weekend is compulsory. If you miss more than 2 days due to ill health or unforeseen
circumstances arrangements can be made for you to attend the following year.
