What will I study?
The degree is tailored to meet the needs of individuals who want a qualification that will prepare them for, or progress their career in accountancy. The course content has been designed in close collaboration with industry and commerce in order to establish the knowledge and skillsets required by employers of their graduate employees. In other words, this qualification has the objective of bridging the knowledge/skills gap identified by employers and sector skills councils in relation to the accountancy function by offering the opportunity to develop knowledge of current accounting practice and technical skills required to utilise advanced accounting tools.
How can I progress?
Students who successfully complete the Foundation Degree in Accountancy will have the opportunity to progress to the third year of the BSc (Hons) Accountancy programme at Edge Hill University. This would be the equivalent of 12 months full-time study. In addition students can progress to the Professional Accounting qualifications with ICAEW, CIMA, ACCA and CIPFA.
What will I need to qualify for this course?
Course Structure
FD covers levels 4 and 5, level 4 incorporates AAT Technician stage. Teaching and learning will consist of a combination of lectures, seminars, discussions and tutorials, supplemented by visiting speakers, practical and workshop sessions, demonstrations and visits where appropriate. As a student you will be encouraged to engage in learning through presentations, debates, student-led seminars, informal discussion and other directed study. You will be actively encouraged and supported with access to a number of independent learning resources, provision of formal study skills development, and personal development profile sessions.
