A programme for those already working with children and young people from ages 0 to 19. This course develops the knowledge, skills and understanding in a particular area. This course is developed and accredited by the University of Derby with employers in the sector, to make it current, relevant and up to date. Candidates can develop the key skills and knowledge in a relevant specialist pathway; such as early years, teaching assistant or health and social care.

Course programme
In year 1 candidates will study the following Level 4 compulsory modules (120 Credits); starting study, equality and diversity, integrated services and work-based reflective practice 1 and one optional module from the curriculum 0-19, children and young people communicating or investigating and solving problems In year 2 candidates will study Level 5 compulsory modules (120 Credits); Understanding behaviour, work-based reflective practice 2, children's, young people's and family rights, research methods and practice secondary research. Candidates can select from of these optional modules; working with parents and carers, children and young peoples' health and wellbeing, bringing men into children's and young people's services, international perspectives, inclusive education or promoting health.
