Course Content: Modules are: Construction Technology 1 and 2 Construction Management Practice Construction Industry Management Studies Building Science and Materials Engineering Surveying Work-based Projects 1 and 2 Professional Skills Sustainable Technology Contract Law Law and Health & Safety How will I be assessed? While on the programme, you will be assessed using a variety of methods: assignments, reports, group presentations, poster presentations, phase tests and exams. All assessment methods have been designed to focus on skills specific to the industry while incorporating key transferable employability skills. Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required? You need drawing equipment, a calculator, text books, portfolios (for assignment submissions), and general stationery supplies. Although it is not a prerequisite, it is helpful for students to have their own laptop/iPad to enable them to meet the required independent study demands. What can I do after this course? Students who successfully complete and pass the course will have the opportunity to apply to progress to the part-time Level 5/6 degree programme at NTU in Construction Management or Quantity Surveying and ultimately to gain professional status as members of the CIOB and/or Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). An option to apply to study at Masters level may be available after completion of your BSc (Hons) degree. The programme will also enhance your career prospects within your chosen profession.
