The Programme
An exciting opportunity to study Events Management. The course focuses on the skills required to be a dynamic Events Manager and explores many supervisory and management functions such as financial planning, client care and legal aspects. The learner will also develop marketing and creativity skills and ultimately implement a professional and engaging event in the final year of study at college.

To be successful within the event sectors, event professionals require many skills; time planning, ability to work under pressure, creativity and communication skills. The programme focuses on these aspects and modules include:

Module Descriptions
Introduction to the Events Sector: examining the range, diversity and development of events.
Hospitality for Events: hospitality closely links with the events sector and this module examines hospitality management for large and small scale events.
Managing clients: examining client care and communication skills.
Marketing for Events: explores the principles and practices of event marketing.
Financial planning: covers the financial elements required for successful event management.
Organisational behaviour: considers how organisational behaviour and attitudes influences the behaviour and groups at work.
Professional Practice: students will have to complete a portfolio of professional practice no less than four weeks duration or equivalent.
Study Skills: develops skills in computing, time management, research and planning needed to work independently.
Research Methods: students will have to complete a project of their own choosing, preparing them for dissertation work at level 6.
Event Design and the Media: focuses on the creativity and application of event design.
Event Planning and Implementation: this 40 credit module requires students to utilise their acquired knowledge to plan, design, implement and evaluate a large scale local event.
Legal Aspects for Events: key legislative aspects are considered in this module and include risk management, licensing, security and health and safety.
Human Resources: explores the principles and theories of human resource management.
