A2 level in an Art & Design subject
We welcome applications from students 21+ who do not match the standard entry requirements but who can demonstrate commitment to studying this subject at University level, and, who can evidence academic or vocational experience in a related field.

Overseas students can send evidence of qualifications (IELTS 6), work experience, and portfolio electronically (or by post) to the Programme Leader. Following receipt of this work an interview by phone will be conducted.

Course Progression: You can 'top up' by joining the final year of the BA (Hons) Fashion programme at Coventry University. You may also apply to other Universities to 'top up' on related degrees.

Careers Progression: Careers are varied and range from; Costume assistant for Stage, TV & Film, to freelance designer, cutter and maker. Opportunities also exist in buying, marketing and retail sectors of the industry.

Course Description:
The FD in Fashion + Costume is a creative and vocationally relevant course equivalent to the first 2 years of a BA(Hons)Degree. It prepares you for career paths in fashion and costume industries.

Description Breakdown:
You will complete 4 modules in year one. They cover academic practice, practical and creative. Contextual study is explored through a series of lectures and seminars. In addition guest speakers support the fashion and Costume industries module. Design projects are industry linked and specialist staff deliver production modules in our well resourced workshop and studios. In year 2 a greater sense of independent study is required with further development of your specialist skills culmimnating in a final collection and Fashion Show. To ensure currency with industry you will be required to complete an independently sourced Work Placment.

Trips Residentials: Guest speakers share their experience and industrial visits to the sector are arranged. An annual visit to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre expands your knowledge of costume production and related careers. A study residential to Florence is scheduled.
