We welcome applications from students 21+ who do not match the standard entry requirements but who can demonstrate commitment to studying this subject at University level, and, who can evidence academic or vocational experience in a related field.

Overseas students can send evidence of qualifications (IELTS 6), work experience, and portfolio electronically (or by post) to the Programme Leader. Following receipt of this work an interview by phone will be conducted

Course Description:
The FD in Performance (Dance) is an intensive and challenging course designed to prepare the dancer for the professional industry. Emphasis is placed upon studio practice whilst developing the academic knowledge required for a sustainable career.

Description Breakdown:
The FD in Performance (Dance) aims to provide relevant work ready skills for the creative industries. Students engage in an intensive programme of study to develop a strong foundation in technique and performance in a variety of dance styles. Emphasis is placed upon developing the students own voice as an artist in choreographic opportunities throughout the programme.

Modules include Contemporary Dance Techniques, Ballet Techniques, Improvisation and Choreography, Anatomy and Physiology, Performance and Repertoire, Community Dance Practice, Contextual Studies, Business Studies, Choreographic Performance Project and Dance Techniques including jazz dance and commercial dance.

In addition students will receive a programme of guest lecturers and master-classes to maintain skills at the cutting edge of thinking and practice.

A high volume of delivery will take place in our professional theatre and studios.

Nº Places Available: 15

Trips Residentials: Students will engage in a programme of professional master-classes and residencies from industry professionals. Trips to view live performance regionally and nationally are an essential requirement of the course.
