About this course

Entry requirements: BTEC National Diploma or VCE A level / Double award or 2 GCE A levels or Access to HE Certificate and GCSE English (Grade C) and GCSE Maths (Grade C) or equivalent. Applications from people over 21 without the above qualifications but with relevant experience and or other qualifications are also encouraged. All applicants will be considered on their individual merit and commitment to study. All applicants will be required to attend an interview with a member of the course team and to complete an assessment.

Course Content:
Year 1: Client Side Web Development, Professional Studies 1, Professional Studies 2, Java Programming Foundations, Java Software Lifecycle, Introduction to Computer Systems, User Centred Design and Testing, Computation and Problem Solving and Employability Skills. Year 2: Software Project Organisation and Management, Group Project System Level Programming, Database Systems, Networks and Distributed Computing, Software Specification, Test and Maintenance.

Progression:
Successful students will be able to make an immediate contribution to the work place. There is also an articulation agreement which allows progression to the final year of the BSc Computing Science degree at Aston University.
