About this course
It is a course entry requirement that applicants possess the Certificate or Post Graduate Certificate in Education or the Diploma or Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Sector. Candidates must be working at Level 2 or above in Literacy and Numeracy.

Who is the course for?
For professionals who have achieved either Cert Ed (post compulsory) or DTLLS.
What is the course about?
For students to gain the Foundation Degree, they must successfully achieve four mandatory modules, two of which are 'self managed'. Candidates will then undertake three option modules from those provided by the college each year. One of the self managed modules will relate to the candidate's own professional subject area, whilst the other involves reflective practice on their professional teaching/training skills. Apart from the self managed modules, the others will be delivered via taught input, together with personal research.

The modules within this Foundation Degree have been particularly designed to reflect current issues within the Lifelong Learning Sector and to meet Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements.

How long & often do I attend?
Candidates will complete the Foundation Degree over a 2 year period. The programme will run on one session per week of 3 hours duration.
The programme will be delivered at Riverside College Halton, Runcorn Campus.
How will I be assessed?
Assessments for the Foundation Degree will be by written assignments together with presentations for some modules. There are no examinations.
What opportunities will this lead to?
Candidates can progress onto the BA Honours in Teaching and Learning in the Lifelong Learning Sector (to be validated in 2009).
