Essential requirement student’s ability, enthusiasm, initiative and drive to obtain a basic knowledge of working in an engineering environment. Academically a student must have obtained: 4 GCSE passes at grade D or above including Mathematics and English.

This is a level 1 City & Guilds course that could lead to the Intermediate level or an apprenticeship. The student will be required to complete the foundation level course and demonstrate an aptitude and ability to take on the Intermediate level course. Tutor recommendation will be required for progression to Intermediate level.

It is a broadly based programme designed for those with the desire and ambition to progress in a career in Engineering (Marine, Motor Vehicle, Mechanical or Electronic) or for those who want to go on to further studies. Successful candidates will have a desire to become involved with sustainable solution related industries. It is for learners who are just starting out in their engineering career and require a broad range of competencies to enable safe progression to higher level engineering qualifications or into the workplace.

This course covers basic knowledge, understanding and skills that are relevant to a wide variety of careers and study routes within the engineering industry.
