French Absolute Beginners Level 1

Your Course
This course is designed for students who have no previous knowledge of French. The course is based on a communicative approach and aims to develop the skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing in the foreign language. It aims to enable students to understand and use French effectively for purposes of practical communication, to develop some understanding of grammar and to offer insights into the culture of French speaking countries.
This course feeds into Beginners level 2 (summer term 2010) and then Beginners level 3 (autumn term 2010). During the Absolute Beginners course students will take a short internal assessment in reading French. This will help them prepare for the OCR ASSET languages test that will be taken at the end of the first year of study.
