What Will I Study?
AS: Family and relationships, popular culture, healthy living and the media.

A2: Environment, the multicultural society, contemporary social issues (such as wealth and poverty or the impact of scientific and technological progress), and two cultural topics (related to the target language country)

All these topics are studied giving an opportunity to learn more about these issues in places where French is spoken.

Study Visits
A study visit or an exchange to France (Paris, Vendée area or elsewhere) is offered in both years of the course. This is not compulsory, but strongly recommended for improving communication skills and giving you the opportunity to experience French culture and life.

Cost
Around £300 for the residential study visit / exchange.

Assessment
AS - one unit assessed by examination (listening, reading and writing) and a prepared oral.

A2 - one unit assessed by examination (listening, reading and writing) and a prepared oral.

Useful Supporting Courses
It is possible to study up to three separate languages at advanced Level. Languages support virtually every other choice of subjects, particularly English Language, the Humanities, Social Sciences and Business.
