This course is for anyone who expresses a keen interest in History and follows the Edexcel examination syllabus.
Description
This course aims to develop your historical knowledge and understanding and to consider the nature of historical evidence and different interpretations of the past. A wide range of topics is studied in the four units that make up the full Advanced Level award. In the first year we will be studying Russia 1881-1953 (the last Tsar, the Russian Revolution, Lenin and Stalin) and the changing position of Women and Suffrage in Britain. At A2 we will study Germany (from the Kaiser to the Fuhrer 1900-1945) and the State and the Poor in Britain 1815-1939

AS one year/A2 a further year
Method of Study
4.5 hours weekly of classroom-based activities, lectures and seminars. Independent study is also required.
Progression
A pass in the AS can lead to a further year for A2 to gain the full A level. Students may use this subject to progress to university or into employment.
