Why should I study A2 Level Physics?
Physics is a wide and diverse field of expertise. On this course you will study physical phenomena, encompassing centuries of research. Topics range from traditional studies in thermodynamics and kinetic theory to developing fields such as quantum theory, fission and fusion. On completion of the course, learners can progress
- to study a science, mathematics and engineering degree at University.
- to enter science and engineering based employment.
What will be studied on the course?
Unit 4 This unit contains further mechanics (including momentums, circular and simple harmonic motion). It also includes electrical, gravitation and magnetic field topics.
Unit 5 This unit contains topics such as radioactivity, nuclear energy and thermal physics. The final part of the unit is made up of an optional topic from Astrophysics, Medical Physics, Applied Physics or Turning points in Physics.
Unit 6 This is a practical based unit.

This course starts in September and lasts for one academic year ending in June
What qualifications are needed to do the course?
- AS Physics at grade D or above including at least grade E in both Units 1 and 2.

How will the learner be assessed?
Units 4 and 5 observed by 2 x 1¾ hour written exams. Unit 6 assessed by completing a practical exercise followed by a written exam.
