Why should I study A2 Level Sociology?
When you study Sociology at A2, you have an opportunity to study areas of knowledge with which you are familiar.
- You will gain a more detailed understanding of the society in which we live.
- Furthermore, you will become skilled at using evidence to support your arguments.
- Importantly, you will develop an ability to think critically - which is very useful in a range of occupations and Higher Education.
What will be studied on the course?
The modules studied will be:
- Beliefs in Society
- Crime and Deviance
When does the course start and how long does it last?
The course starts in September and lasts for one academic year.
What qualifications are needed to do the course?
- AS Sociology - preferably at grade D or above
Where is the course based?
The course is based at our 6th Form Centre at Lanchester.
How will the learner be assessed?
The course will be assessed by two written exams (externally assessed).
How much will the course cost?
Text books will be available from the LRC - free of charge - but students will be expected to supply their own paper and pens.
What progression routes are available?
- Entry onto a Social Science degree
- Entry into Social Work and Social Welfare related occupations
