About this course

You will need to have taken at least
seven subjects at GCSE and
passed English at C, and achieved
a minimum point score of 5 as well
as GCSE Art.at C or above
OR
· Level 2 Diploma (e.g. BTEC First
Diploma) at Distinction and either
GCSE English grade C or Key Skills
Communication at Level 2
· A portfolio will also be required
· Interview and Reference

Course Details
This course is suitable for students with a general interest in visual art and Fine Art in particular. The course will create
awareness of painting and sculpture, but focuses on 2-D and mixed-media studies.

Students should be prepared for personal research, creative thinking and problem-solving. Drawing in all forms will be
encouraged as the basis for personal work.

What will I study?
Students will work from set project briefs designed to guide them through a variety of skills, in drawing, painting, and mixed
materials, leading to the production of personal work.

Students will expand upon skills and creativity through studying
various artists and designers.

Students will develop sketchbooks as a means to record personal
success.

Coursework and examination at the end of the year
Level: 3

Entry Requirements:
Progression/Careers: UCAS points are gained according to the level of achievement. Students may progress onto University Degrees or HNDs.

However, for students who wish to specialise in Art & Design, subjects at University it is more usual to follow a Foundation course designed to prepare students for degree level work.
